Zoo Book - Dorean Pope Photography

The other day I got an offer in my inbox for a free photo book from Shutterfly. I have used their services in the past for sharing family photos and for ordering here and there (**disclaimer - I don't use them for business ordering). I love a good deal and anything free automatically gets my attention, so I decided to put some pictures together from our recent visit to the zoo. Oh my goodness, the book turned out SO WELL if I do say so myself. It was super easy (all I did was upload the photos and pick a theme, they automatically put all the pictures on the pages). I just thought I would share my success to encourage all you moms out there that scapbooking your digital images IS possible and easy. Now I have a book to document Adalyn & Aubrey's first trip to the zoo. Adalyn loves looking at it to see pictures of the animals we saw on our trip.

2009 Top 10 & Giveaway - Austin Child & Family Photographer

Since the weather has been mostly cold lately (except for the gorgeous weather we had yesterday!) and I haven't been getting outside to shoot many sessions, I have been focusing more on office work when I get a chance. I am looking back at my work from 2009 and reflecting on the year. It was a great year for me both personally, with the addition of Aubrey to our family, as well as professionally. Even though I was pregnant and on maternity leave for a good part of the year, my business grew significantly. I owe that in large part to YOU my wonderful friends and clients.

The majority of my business comes from word of mouth and referrals. I really appreciate all of you and the wonderful things you say to your friends about me. :)

To show a little appreciation, I have decided to do a little giveaway. While going through my favorite images from last year I picked out a few (I could only narrow it down to 10) of my very, very favorites. Most of these images I like because they speak to me on an emotional level or they have captured something that I think will speak to my client on an emotional level. I absolutely LOVE it when that happens... it is always my goal.

Yummy baby toes! I love how she crosses her ankles when she sleeps. So cute!

And yes... her little pants are highwaters. I missed them when I was switching out her clothes to the next size. We will just call them capris.

She is getting so big and her hair is getting so long!! I took these the other day in the backyard and they make me laugh, her hair is crazy!!

*note: These photos were taken with my mommy camera, the point and shoot. I love my camera and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good everyday camera.

I ran across some new Actions for Photoshop recently and was looking for some pictures to play with. I found these pictures of my very dear friend taken at her surprise birthday party (in OCTOBER!!) out on the lake at Hula Hut. YUM!! I can't believe I forgot about these! I think they turned our really well for some quick snap shots.

Anyway, back to my original point, I think I like the look of the new actions. One of them is soft and makes everything look golden. The other is a little edgy, which can be fun to play with sometimes (in moderation.)

Leander Fall Festival

We spent yesterday at a booth for the Leander Fall Festival. It was a lot of fun and we hope that everyone who visited our booth enjoys their festival photo. I will be e-mailing out the photos this week. If you have not received your photo by the end of the week, please shoot me an e-mail with your name, and I will resend the photo. Another Family Member ~ Austin, Texas Photographer

I decided it was about time for me to introduce you to another family member. This is Samson. He is our lovely long haired chihuahua. He has the sweetest personality I have ever encountered on a dog. He is a lot of fun and I know he will be a great companion for Adalyn as soon as she is old enough to realize it.

Hello Blog friends!
Sorry it has been so long since I have posted. This has been a busy month. Today I thought I would share a few of my most recent favorites of my little Rose Bud. She has grown and changed so much in the past month. It is a joy to watch her blossom right in front of me.

She is starting to enjoy reading books more and more which is something that I am going to try to encourage as much as possible. We check out little card board books from the library every week, but she has her staple favorites at home like "But Not the Hippopotamus" by Sandra Boynton.

Looking back...

I have been learning a lot of new tricks in photoshop recently and I have been experimenting on older pictures. These are a couple of bridal portraits I took back in June of 2006 that I gave a make-over to this afternoon.

Back yard fun!

Adalyn and I had some friends over for a play date yesterday. Of course I had to grab my camera and snap a couple of shots while we were outside, I just got a new lens that I have been dying to play with. :)
