We Are Fa-Mi-Ly {Dorean Pope Photography}

So very thankful for this family.
What a blessing to share life with them, to learn from their love and example.  To gather with them on holidays and share laughs and inside jokes.  Our shared history is priceless.
Love you guys big!

I'll Be Home For Christmas {Austin Family Photographer}

Had so much fun with all of these Buckeyes on what was a very chilly fall morning to me.  They assured me that it wasn't really all that cold, and that was just my Texan talking. :)  I was glad the cold didn't phase them and we were able to document this momentous occasion when they were all together for the first time in three years!  It is so important to take advantage of opportunities like this, our portrait session was Grandma's Christmas present.  I hope it is a present that brings her much joy for years to come as she looks at these images on the walls in her home!

Thank you so much for sharing some of your precious time together with me, y'all!  It was a blast!

Bright and Sunshiny Day {Wimberley Family Portraits} Dorean Pope Photography

I hit the jack pot with this family session.  Look at those bright and shiny smiling faces.  Loved every minute with them in the beautiful Wimberley Hill Country.
Mama's gorgeous green couch definitely added a special touch to the session.  This has convinced me that I definitely need a couch of my own for sessions!  Now I just have to figure out where I can put it in my house. :)

Thank you so much, H family!  It was a blast!

Brrrrr {Austin Photographer}

We decided at the end of this session that next year, we will do our session in September.  This means that I am just warning you now, we will either have a 45 degree day in September next year, or maybe it will be 110!  If history is any indication of the future, then no matter when we plan our session, there will be extreme weather.  Our general consensus is that we would rather go for hot than cold any day, so we will shoot for September next year and hope for hot! :)

Considering the 35-40 mph gusting northern wind and 50 degree temperatures, I am so very happy with what we got from this session!  They huddled together between poses, sharing the one jacket that mom happened to grab.  And then smiled valiantly pretending they weren't about to turn into icicles.  If nothing else, I have guaranteed them memorable sessions! ;)

Thanks for the fun, W family!  Y'all are great sports!

A Gruene Christmas {Dorean Pope Photography}

This was the first time I have been to Gruene for a session this fall.  We had fun and loved the backgrounds as usual, but BOY was it busy for a Thursday.  We were definitely fighting the crowd of other photographers, but it was worth it!
The interaction, love, and wide eyed wonder we were able to capture makes me smile.  Congratulations H family on your upcoming addition!

It's Fall!! {Austin Family Photographer} Dorean Pope Photography

When you live in Central Texas, with all of our Live Oak and Cedar Trees we have to take advantage of every slightly fall looking bush, tree, or shrub.  I'm joking... but maybe not really.  We simply do not have a lot of fall color around here, so when this family arrived to their session I said, "There are three trees that look fall-ish and we are going to try to find a way to use them all!"
Two out of three isn't bad! ;)

Love this family and love watching their kids grow.  Little Missy brought me the sweetest little drawing and love note.  A tiny piece of paper folded 10 times and tucked away in her pocket and then hand delivered to me.  She's precious!

That mama.... she's SOOOO funny!

Cousins {San Marcos Portrait Photographer}

These cousins had lots of giggles and silly faces for each other.
We had a great time hanging out and capturing some special portraits for their grandma.

After The Storm {Georgetown Family Portraits} - Part 3

This session was special because I had the chance to see a friend that I used to work with 8+ years ago before I quit my job to stay at home and become a full time mommy/photographer.
Many thanks to Facebook I had the chance to meet her gorgeous kids and photograph her family.
I love what I do and THIS is a big part of why -
I get to capturing the personality of families.
Love this shot of their bigs and littles together.

It was so great to see you!! And let's not wait so long until your next family picture! ;)

After The Storm {Georgetown Family Portraits} - Part 1

Things have been crazy around here lately!
There were some pretty intense storms that hit Texas the day before Halloween.  It just so happened that those storms dropped around 15 inches on our little city.  There was major flooding and even a tornado!  Our home sits on a dry creek bed.  We have seen it rise with heavy rains several times, and it usually stops at the fence line or just inside. Last Friday it came up to our porch and in what I consider a miracle, stopped right there.  Our home did not flood, but 7+ of our neighbor's homes flooded.

Two days after the torrential rain and flooding, I had mini-sessions scheduled in Georgetown.  They had been scheduled for Saturday morning, but we decided to postpone due to all of the rain.  Sunday morning was forecast to be bright and sunny.  As I left my house Sunday morning, I looked north and saw dark thunder clouds.  When I pulled up the radar I saw rain.  As I studied the radar, I decided it looked like there was at least a chance that the rain would move out in time for our sessions.  I decided to risk it and headed north driving through downpour after downpour on the way to Georgetown.  Somehow, but yet another miracle, the rain moved out just as I pulled into downtown and never started up again.  {{I was so thankful!!}}

This sweet family was brave enough to trust my gut that the rain would stop and that I could pull their session off on rain drenched streets.  This was my first time to meet them and although our session was a super quick mini, we were able to pack a lot in and we had a great time!
I absolutely love this shot of them and I can't wait to come back and share more.

But for now.... I am trying to catch up on my mountain of editing.
Flooding is not good for my deadlines!!
