Christmas in July - Austin Family Photographer

As I shared recently, our family is expecting an addition sometime at the end of September or the beginning of October this year.  This means that Dorean Pope Photography will not be able to schedule Christmas Portrait sessions this year, as I will be on maternity leave.  I know it is EXTREMELY early and VERY warm to be thinking about Christmas.  BUT, if you would like to schedule a family portrait session this year, in time for Christmas, please contact me ASAP.  I am planning to continue working through July, but am unsure how much later in the year I will be offering sessions.

I am also planning to offer a couple of mini-sessions opportunities next month.  These will be limited and scheduled on a first come first served basis.  If you are interested in booking one of these sessions, please shoot me an e-mail and you will be the first to receive the details.

Best of 2010 - Austin Family Photographer

What a year!  It is so fun to sit here and look through all of the sessions I had this year. So many wonderful families, kids, and babies that I got to capture images of.  It is such a joy. THANK YOU to all of the families who have entrusted me with capturing their memories.

1010 by 10/10/10 - Austin Portrait Photographer

I decided to set a goal... to reach 1010 facebook fans by 10/10/10. In order to reach this goal I am going to need all of my existing facebook fans, friends, and family to help me!

To give you a little incentive to help out, I am going to be doing several giveaways between now and then.  :)

To start off, on August 15, 2010 I will be giving away a mini-session to one lucky facebook fan. You can use the mini-session for yourself & your family or you can give it to someone as a gift. Think birthday, Christmas, Mother's Day etc...

There are a couple of ways to enter this giveaway:

1) Everyone who is a fan of Dorean Pope Photography can enter just for being a fan - make sure you "like" us and then leave a comment on this post on facebook that you would like to be entered in the giveaway.

2) Suggest to your friends that they "like" Dorean Pope Photography. You do this by clicking the "Suggest To Friends" link in the upper left corner, right under the profile picture. Select the friends you would like to suggest this page to and hit "Send Invitations". Suggest us to 20 or more of your friends and then leave a comment on facebook letting us know that you suggested us to your friends.

3)Tell your friends about this giveaway in your facebook status. Example: "@Dorean Pope Photography is giving away a free mini-session. Check out the fan page to enter." and then leave a comment on facebook letting me know that you mentioned the giveaway in your status.

Newborn Special - Austin Newborn Photographer

Now through the end of May, I am running a newborn special for all the expectant mamas out there (or anyone who would like to give someone who is expecting the gift of documenting their pregnancy and newborn baby - it's a great baby shower gift!)

To take advantage of this offer all you have to do is book your newborn session now (and pay the sitting fee) and you will receive a complimentary mini-maternity session (a $115.00 value).

If you know someone who is expecting a baby, please send them my way, and you will receive a $25.00 referral credit toward your next session.  So help me spread the word!!

Helpful Information:

You can take advantage of this special as long as you are expecting a baby at this time.

Newborn sessions should be completed within 2 weeks of returning home from the hospital.

I'm so excited to share with you my recent project. This business has existed on the web, up to this point, entirely on this blog and facebook. Over the last few weeks I have been setting up an actual website for Dorean Pope Photography. It was a lot of fun to go through and pick out some of my most favorite images to put together galleries. It is still (and will probably always be) a work in progress, but IT'S A START!!! Yay! :)

2009 Top 10 & Giveaway - Austin Child & Family Photographer

Since the weather has been mostly cold lately (except for the gorgeous weather we had yesterday!) and I haven't been getting outside to shoot many sessions, I have been focusing more on office work when I get a chance. I am looking back at my work from 2009 and reflecting on the year. It was a great year for me both personally, with the addition of Aubrey to our family, as well as professionally. Even though I was pregnant and on maternity leave for a good part of the year, my business grew significantly. I owe that in large part to YOU my wonderful friends and clients.

The majority of my business comes from word of mouth and referrals. I really appreciate all of you and the wonderful things you say to your friends about me. :)

To show a little appreciation, I have decided to do a little giveaway. While going through my favorite images from last year I picked out a few (I could only narrow it down to 10) of my very, very favorites. Most of these images I like because they speak to me on an emotional level or they have captured something that I think will speak to my client on an emotional level. I absolutely LOVE it when that happens... it is always my goal.

Christmas Gift Idea - Dorean Pope Photography

Whew! It has been a busy week. I am getting close to being finished with proofing everyone's sessions. (YAY!!) We are full of the Christmas spirit here in the Pope house complete with sugar cookie baking, Christmas wreath crafts, and holiday decorations. I had to give in and let myself put the Christmas tree up before I finished all my work. It was a good family activity for us Sunday night (in the drizzle). Adalyn is LOVING Christmas. While driving down the street at night she exclaims "OH MY!!" while covering her mouth when she sees Christmas lights. Of course she also says that when she comes down the stairs and sees the Christmas tree in the morning or when she sees Christmas cookies. It is her current go to phrase and it totally cracks me up every time. I love it! I hope you are enjoying the Christmas season as well!

On a little business side note - I recently started offering standout mounted prints to my clients. I ordered a few for myself and I absolutely LOVE them, so I thought I would share them with you as a gift idea. They are basically a cheaper version of a canvas mounted print. The print is mounted on a thick black lightweight backing that gives a contemporary, finished look to unframed images. The surface of the print is textured so that it looks like the image is printed on canvas. These prints start at $45.00 and are a great gift idea for Grandparents!!

There is still a week left to order before Christmas and all images shot by Dorean Pope Photography in the past year can be ordered.

This is the follow-up post for everyone from the Spooktacular Playdate.

An online gallery is now available at: http://www.collages.net/ to view all of the fun pictures and to choose which image you would live to receive as your complimentary digital negative. The login is the first and last name (with a space in between) of our wonderful hostess. The password is: 24605.
